Nineteen year old Loses Life in Traffic Accident
There was a fatal traffic accident in the Spanish Lookout Community in the west. On route fourteen, several miles into the community, police found the lifeless body of nineteen year old Joshua Garrido. Garrido was flung to his death after the motorcycle he was riding on slammed into the side of a truck that transports corn and beans. The accident took place sometime around three p.m. on Wednesday. Investigations have since revealed that the truck and the motorcycle were going in opposite direction. The driver of the truck, Vladimir Cano swerved to avoid hitting Garrido, who was travelling along with several other persons on separate motorcycles. Garrido sustained massive head and body injuries and died on the spot. News Five spoke today with Deputy Officer Commanding San Ignacio Police, Inspector Reymundo Reyes about the fatality.

“On arrival, they saw the lifeless body of a Hispanic male person lying on the right hand side of the road—that would be on the left hand side of the road when traveling from a south to north direction. Beside the body about twenty feet away, there was a motorcycle extensively damaged and also a truck used to transport corn or beans was seen overturned on the left hand side of the road also. Information at this moment is that the truck was traveling from a north to south direction and upon reaching on top of a hill that is when apparently the driver noted that there were people on several motorcycles. Unfortunately the truck started to slide on the side and one of the cyclists ended up crashing into the left side of the truck and immediately the driver at the time lost control of the truck also causing him to overturn. At this moment, the name of the deceased is Joshua Garrido, nineteen years old of Duck Run III and the driver of the truck is one Vladimir Cano—other particulars unknown. He was transported to the Western Regional Hospital as he complained of pain on the chest and body. Statements are being recorded. Both vehicles were inspect4ed this morning. A post mortem examination is being conducted as we speak at the San Ignacio Town Hospital. The investigation will be concluded and then all statements and documents that we have on hand will be forwarded to the office of the director of public prosecution for advice.”
The driver of the truck, Vladimir Cano, who was injured, has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
