Corozal Businessman Robbed of Forty Thousand Dollars in Cash
A Corozal businessman of Indian extraction was robbed of a significant sum of money on Friday evening. While the incident has flown below the radar, twenty-nine-year-old Mahesh Balani was relieved of two hundred and forty thousand pesos at gunpoint. That is the monetary equivalent of forty thousand Belize dollars. Balani reported to police that while standing in front of a store on Fourth Avenue conversing with a friend, he was approached by a pair of armed men who stole the Mexican currency from him. While the robbers made good their escape with the money, Corozal police have since launched an investigation into the incident. So far however, they have come up empty-handed.
