Corozal Police Says Stay Alert for Kidnapping Attempts
It made big news at the end of January when news of child predators on the prowl in the north spread like wildfire. Schools were on alert and so were the Police, hunting for signs of a white SUV allegedly linked to a kidnapping attempt. Things have quieted down somewhat, but today Officer commanding Corozal Superintendent Andrew Ramirez told News Five that it’s advisable to stay alert.
Supt. Andrew Ramirez, Officer Commanding, Corozal Police
“I can recall giving an interview to the media because of a white vehicle that was seen in the San Andres Road, following an eight year old female child. There were no license plate amongst other information, but we had sent out information to the community and up to the present date, we have not located the said vehicle nor the description of the male person that was given. However, we remain on alert, the police continue with their increased motorcycle, bicycle, mobile and foot patrols and we continue to inform the communities at large, especially the schools to be on alert and if they see anything suspicious. As long as and until we find this person or the vehicle, we cannot keep our eyes at ease.”
Around the same time, there were reports of a kidnapping attempt in Belize City, but investigations showed that it was a false alarm.
