Chain snatcher gets two years behind bars
A Belize City man, previously charged on a number of occasions, has finally been convicted of theft. Twenty-nine year old Rudolph Smith, A.K.A. “Tuba” was charged for ripping a gold chain off an eleven year old girl on March fifth at a shop at the corner of King Street and Amara Avenue in Belize City. Smith was identified by his young victim both in a police I.D. parade and in open court. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to two years in prison. Last year Smith had been charged on three different occasions with sexual offences against minors, but was acquitted each time.
