Machete wielder found guilty of Attempted Murder

Story PictureHe is accused of attacking a Maxboro resident with a machete and today, twenty year old Marlon Alfred Taylor was found guilty of Attempted Murder. It was a unanimous decision from the jury because Taylor did not deny chopping twenty-six year old Leon Leslie, but claimed it was an accident. But Taylor will have to wait to know his fate until July twenty-ninth when Justice Michelle Arana will hand down his sentence. The incident was on January eighth of 2008 and evidence revealed during the trial that Taylor believed Leslie wanted him dead and tried to run him over in his car. So when Taylor saw Leslie and his brother Rujan Staine at a bus stop, he told them that one of them would be buried on that day because he almost died the night before. Taylor later returned with a machete and a friend, Clifford Wade, and after an argument over who tried to kill Taylor, Leslie was attacked. Taylor swung the weapon at Leslie’s head and while managed to block that attempt, he was struck to the neck, back and left hand by the end of the ordeal. Leslie’s neighbour, Alvin Young intervened and threatened to shoot Taylor if he did not leave. The case was prosecuted by Senior Counsel Cecil Ramirez.
