Another Shooting in the City
There have been two murders in the past two days in the City and this morning, those homicides were followed by a shooting near the Wesley Church in the downtown area. The victim is thirty-seven year old Marlon Budran who was heading to work when he came under fire. Records show that Budran has a history with the law and his family says that he has changed his ways and is now working. Duane Moody was at the scene immediately following the shooting.

Sometime around seven-thirty this morning, shots rang out near South Street in Belize City. At its intersection with Wagner’s Lane, the telltale signs showed that up to six shots were fired at thirty-seven year old Marlon Budran as he left his Wagner Street home on his way to work. Two of the bullets made its mark on Budran, who despite being hit, ran from his two assailants who were on separate bicycles.
Supt. David Chi, O.C., Precinct 1, Eastern Division Police
“Police carried out an investigation into the matter where he reported that he was walking in the neighborhood when he was approached by two other male persons on separate bicycles who inflicted those wounds on him with a firearm. He managed to run away where he was not injured further.”
Budran received injuries to the head and foot and is in a critical condition at the K.H.M.H. While he has had several run-ins with the law for firearm offenses, attempted murder charges and burglary, police say there is no known motive for this morning’s shooting.
Supt. David Chi
“The police are investigating the matter at this point. It is a very young investigation so at this point we are investigating the matter.”
Reporter
“Do you believe that this has any relation with the other shootings, as a form of retaliation?”
Supt. David Chi
“No, this is a separate situation totally. This is an isolated incident from the other two that happened earlier in the week.”
Duane Moody
“Sir is Mister Budran known to the police as someone who is involved in criminal activities?”
Supt. David Chi
“He’s a citizen of Belize City, he may have had some encounter with police before yes, but he is a resident of this neighborhood of precinct one so he is known. As I said, we are investigating the matter and I cannot say whether it is a gang related incident. So far we have no indication of it being a gang related incident so I cannot say that.”
“Are there any suspects being sought at this moment?”
Supt. David Chi
“Yes, we have two suspects, but I’m not gonna reveal any names in respect to those at this moment. We are looking for persons of concern.”
