Elderly Man Perishes in Fire in Dangriga

Sixty-one-year-old Alvin Lewis Senior perished in an inferno which consumed his residence in Dangriga on Sunday afternoon.  According to his wife, Thelma Lewis, sometime after one o’clock she left their home on Isidoro Street to do some business.  Lewis, a paraplegic for the past twenty-five years, remained at home.  Upon her return, she discovered that the fourteen by twenty, wooden abode had been engulfed in flames and inside the burning building was her elderly husband.  Investigations would later reveal that the fire started downstairs of the elevated structure.  The charred body of Alvin Dale Lewis Senior was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital whereby he was pronounced dead on arrival.
