2 Shot in the City
There was also violence in the City. Two persons, including a fourteen year old student of Wesley College, were injured in a shooting on Saturday night in Belize City. Just before nine-thirty p.m., twenty-three year old Shane Flowers and the female student were socializing with some friends at a house on Glynn Street, behind the Salvation Army Compound, when a gunman on bicycle rode up to the group and fired indiscriminately. Flowers was hit to the back of the head, while the minor, identified as Amybel Arana, was injured to the abdomen and right elbow. While the minor lay wounded on the ground, Flowers ran from the shooter towards the junction of Glynn and West Streets. From there, he was transported by car to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was treated and by this morning, he was released from the hospital. The young girl was not so fortunate and was initially in a critical condition at the K.H.M.H. According to her mother, Amybel is in stable condition. No one has been detained in connection with this shooting.
