Peruvian songstress arrives for concerts
When Belize City hosts a visiting musical star, chances are it’s a dancehall artist from Jamaica. Well, this weekend the old capital goes Latin.

It is the second time that thirty-nine year old Rossy War, the well-known South American singing sensation, has been to the country, but it is the first time that she will be performing for a Belize City audience… And if the reception she got at the Philip Goldson International Airport is any indicator, Fridays night?s performance will certainly draw a crowd.
War, whose name is the English translation of her real name Rosa Guerra, started singing from age five in her small hometown in Peru. Today, she is not only one of that country?s favourite singers, but her music is popular throughout Latin America. Honorary Counsel of Peru to Belize Rene Villanueva, Sr. says the artist?s visit is just part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the relationship between both countries.

?Well Peru celebrates its anniversary of independence on the twenty-eighth of July and so we thought that it would be good to highlight the fact that here are two countries, one way in South America and one here in Central America, that have excellent relations are looking forward to even strengthen those relations and so we thought that it would be very important as part of a cultural exchange that could exist between our countries to bring a Peruvian singer on the occasion of Peru?s Independence Day.?
Rossy War
?I have only love and appreciation for the people of Belize. I am overwhelmed by the acceptance of my music and I promise to give an outstanding performance to express my great gratitude to all Belizeans.?
War was officially welcomed to Belize City by Mayor David Fonseca who wished her all the best during her stay in the country.
War will be performing for two nights only. The first show takes place on Friday night at the Princess Hotel and Casino. The following day she leaves for Orange Walk Town to perform at the Multipurpose Complex Building. Both concerts get underway at ten p.m. Tickets are thirty dollars in advance and thirty-five dollars at the door.
