Police Conduct Anti-Drug Operations

Police Special Units have been conducting countrywide operations targeting drugs, and it is meeting with very significant success. On Tuesday morning, a joint Special Branch, K-nine and Belmopan Team conducted a search in the Hattieville Area of Roaring Creek. In an abandoned lot they discovered six parcels of cannabis which weighed in at just over one thousand grams. Because there was nobody in the area at the time, the marijuana was labelled as found property. And this morning Independence Police are on the anti-drug map. In a pre-dawn operation, they visited the home of twenty-six year old Oliver Villanueva in the village of Santa Cruz, Stann Creek. During a search of his home they discovered two hundred and seventy grams of cannabis. Also in the home were twenty-five year old Rosa Portillo and forty-eight year old Pedro Portillo. All three were charged jointly for the offence of drug trafficking.
