Suspect detained in city shooting

Police have detained one suspect and are looking for two more after a shooting on Jane Usher Boulevard in Belize City Tuesday night. Thirty-nine year old John Augustine reported he was walking towards his home on the Boulevard and had just approached the intersection with Levi Slusher Street when he was attacked by three men who had been hanging out in the area. Augustine tried to run away, but one of the men fired his gun, hitting him in the neck. He managed to get inside his house and called police who took him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition. Augustine was able to identify the gunman and a suspect has been detained pending further investigation.
