Is money missing from Traffic Dept?

Story PictureAnd while the missing monies are rife with scandal, News Five is also closely monitoring the City’s Traffic Department where a similar case is said to be developing. Impeccable sources tell News Five that ticket books and monies have also mysteriously gone missing.

Both the Deputy Mayor, Dion Leslie and the Councillor in charge of Traffic, Wayne Usher, today said they did not know of such a scam. Usher would only say he knew nothing of the allegation and Leslie said the Department had reconciled its ticket books and all are accounted for. He said that the last order for ticket books was placed on August eleventh, 2008 and that of the five batches, only one batch was used up. Batch two was being used and batches three, four and five were in storage. Leslie was not prepared to give an on camera interview because he said further investigations were still being done and that they were now in the process of checking the cash.

Meanwhile, the Border Management Agency issued its own release today over the reports that monies had gone missing from its bank account. And while the figure is lower than previously reported, the Border Management confirms there is a shortage of funds. In its press release, the Agency states that its Accountant reported to the General Manager, Gonzalo Rosado, on July second that thirteen thousand seven hundred and fifty one dollars and fifty cents that were prepared and dispatched to the bank in June did not show up in the Agency’s account. The missing funds were detected when the bank did its reconciliation and reviewed the Agency’s bank deposit ledger. The Agency’s release also stated that it was their Site Manager, Julio Santos, who was assigned to make all bank deposits for the western border station. And while we could not locate Santos to state his position on the matter, the Border Management Agency terminated his services as of July third.
