Thieves hit Princess Hotel for big money
Big bold daylight robberies seem to be very much in style this season, and this morning the third major jacking in three weeks took place, this time in the heart of Belize City’s entertainment district. Sometime after nine this morning two young men walked into the Princess Hotel and Casino and walked out with a bundle. Management has been tight-lipped about the incident, but reports reaching News Five indicate that it was not until several minutes after the incident that people became aware of what had happened. One witness who did not wish to be identified told News Five that he was on the compound when he saw a number of the hotel’s employees run out of the building. That is when his attention was drawn to two men holding bags and walking on the sidewalk along Newtown Barracks towards the B.T.L. Park next door. It is there Belize City police believe a getaway vehicle, described as a brown van, was waiting for the duo. Authorities say the men managed to get away with thirty-three thousand dollars. Police say they have no suspects at this time. The last two major robberies include the Scotia Bank branch in Dangriga on July twelfth and the Income Tax office in Belize City on July fifteenth. No arrests have been made in either case.
