Corozal child suffocates while playing in sand
For students, the summer holidays are supposed to be carefree and fun, but on Wednesday a little boy was found dead in San Roman Village after apparently suffocating in a pile of sand. Corozal police say nine-year-old Onix Correa had been playing with a group of children who were digging in the sand that afternoon when his friends noticed that he was gone. Three hours later, they still could not find him and thought that the boy had left the area. Around seven p.m. his father went back to the sand pile and discovered Onix’s lifeless body. Police say it is believed Onix was buried when one of the tunnels he was digging accidentally collapsed.
