Accused Man Says Police Shot Him Without Provocation
Twenty-eight-year-old Phillip Mass Samuels was slapped with firearm offences when he appeared in court today. The Belize City man was charged with kept firearm, and kept ammunition in connection with an incident on March twelfth. It is alleged that Samuels was found in possession of a chrome and black handle nine millimeter pistol loaded with six live rounds of ammunition that’s supposed to have been stolen. Samuels, who appeared unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to all charges. He told the court that on the night of the incident someone fired shots at him and he went looking for the shooter. Samuels denied owning the gun and firing shots that night. Samuels is scheduled to return to court on May eight. Partial disclosure is set to be given by May twenty ninth, 2015, when his case is also set to go to trial.
