Hostel youth spruce up Stella Maris
For the past two days, residents of the Princess Royal Youth Hostel have braved the hot sun to make a difference in the lives of the students of the Stella Maris School in Belize City. When we visited the boys just before noon today, they were hard at work painting the play area of the institution. According to Assistant Supervisor Modesto Lacayo, today’s activity is part of the hostel’s annual summer programme.

?They are doing community service at this time. It?ll be for three days and we want the public to know that these kids at the hostel are not bad kids, they are good kids; they are just wrongly led out on the street, they no have no guidance out there on the streets so they are out there, get in trouble and they end up at the Hostel. But with the right guidance, they can be good kids and we want the community to see that??

?You have other sites you are working with??
Modesto Lacayo
?Yes we do. The girls are working at the Golden Haven Rest home in Hattieville and also the Rockview in Gracie Rock.?
?We do ask all businesses to help out with donations. Anything would be possible for us, that would be great. You could just give a small token, that?s great for us.?
Lacayo says all are invited to attend the Youth Hostel’s open day, scheduled for the twenty-eighth of July, at their offices on Albert Street in downtown Belize City.
