Placencia Police Crack Down on Drugs
With Easter around the corner, the police are in high alert to curb criminal activity. Earlier this week, Placencia Police conducted anti-drug operations in Seine Bight and Placencia Villages which yielded a total of one thousand three hundred and sixty grams of cannabis; that is three pounds of weed. On the morning of March twenty-fourth, 2015, police detained Shirley Garbutt on the Placencia Sidewalk. When Garbutt was searched they found in her bag two plastic bags containing one hundred and thirty six grams of cannabis. Garbutt was charged for Drug Trafficking. On Wednesday, before five in the morning, police searched the house of Francis Baltazar located near the lagoon in Seine Bight village, where police found two transparent bottles containing cannabis. One bag contained thirty-three grams and the other seventy-three grams of cannabis. As a result police charged Baltazar with Drug Trafficking. A few hours later, in a search at the house of Akeem and Rudulph Tejeda in Placencia Village, they found a small amount of cannabis.
A further search was conducted in the brother’s yard with the assistance of K-nine Unit; it yielded more cannabis. The drugs were taken to the Placencia Police Station where they were weighed in at a total of seven hundred and sixty eight grams. The brothers were charged for drug trafficking. Two abandoned lots were also searched and in the first lot in Seine Bight police found a hundred and seven grams cannabis in a bottle. In the second lot, two hundred and thirty five grams of cannabis were found but no arrests were made. All in all it was a good week for the Placencia police.
