Easter Regatta in Caye Caulker

Easter holiday is upon us and it means that many of us will be hitting the beach and some of the popular destinations locally and across the border. There’s one group that wants you to go to Caye Caulker this year for the invitational regatta on April fifth and sixth. Sailing Clubs from across the country will be putting on a show on the island and they want you to join in. Roberto Pott of the Belize Sea Scouts tells us more.

Roberto Pott, Skipper, Belize Sea Scouts

“It will feature the usual Optimist Regatta but there will also be an opportunity for visitors to participate, so the water sports shop will be having kayaking, paddle boarding and you don’t need to be a seasoned sailor. You can simply go out there and join in the fun. This is all part of Caye Caulker Sailing Club’s fundraising activities. So this is really a strong invitation out to Easter goers if you are looking for an event or an activity, Caye Caulker is there so it’s a fairly affordable trip out  and you’ll be able to join. We are also encouraging visitors to support the barbecue and drinks sales that will be going on. They will also be having Stone Jam to entertain and all of this will be centered on the Palapa Gardens. The Belize Sea Scouts will be going out to join the Optimist Regatta. Caye Caulker will also be hosting the Placencia Sailing Club, Corozal Bay Sailing Club, San Pedro and the local Caye Caulker youth sailing program.”

“For those who may be independent sailors, where can they get more information and register?”

Roberto Pott

“Alright. You can contact them at cayecaulkersailingclub@gmail.com or you can look for them on facebook, where they will be posting information and updates through the week, leading up to the Easter weekend.”
