PM Barrow Scolds Julius Espat
And Prime Minister Dean Barrow wasn’t finished there. He has always reserved special attention for Cayo South Area Representative, Julius Espat, and Friday was certainly no exception.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Before you became formally involved in public life…I don’t know how you suddenly donned this garb of self-righteousness…try to pass yourself off as some crusader for transparency. Where was the transparency when before you became a candidate…when you were merely a crony of the People’s United Party government – where was the transparency when you bought the million dollar Chief Justice’s house for one hundred thousand dollars? Where was the transparency when you acquired the property on Forestry Drive, property belonging to the government and people of Belize, for a song? The records are there. The Deputy Prime Minister produced those records in the House. And this was when you were merely, as I said a crony and a hanger on. As soon as you become a candidate you continued in the same vein. Let Collet Montejo say, and he will say because he has been saying it privately…let him say publicly how the leadership of the Party called him before the 2012 elections, told him how much he was supposed to get, informed him that the money was in your custody, and as Collet certified, he did not get that money from you. You kept it for yourself.”
