Bradley Says Santi Will Spend, But He Will Win

According to Bradley, residents of Caribbean Shores have been asking for new representation, better service and better leadership, and he says that in those areas his record speaks for itself. Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo, the current area representative is considered a serious player since his family has been a loyal financier of the U.D.P. – but Bradley says he will win the convention without spending ten percent of the monies Castillo will invest.

“Looking at the logistics of the campaign itself, do you expect that it will get ugly or contentious between yourself and Mister Castillo?”

“It won’t get ugly from our point. I can’t speak to his camp, but as I said before, we bear him no ill-will. I was very pleased in relation to the municipal elections that there was a great degree of civility to it. we run a certain kind of campaign that is based on principle and character because I think that that also reflects the personality of the candidate; that you can control your people and ensure that your people comport themselves with a certain level of political maturity. And so that I can speak for myself and my people that we will ensure that this convention is won in a way that comports with the highest principles of mature political display of support and we will engage with Santino’s people as much as possible. And whoever wins, if he wins, I will continue to support him. And I would hope that if I win, his people and himself would support us in ensuring that we secure Caribbean Shores for the United Democratic Party.”

“Sir are you saying that you can provide a better service to the residents of Caribbean Shores than the current minister, the current area rep?”

“That is exactly what we are saying and I think that when we are walking, people want to see a leader who is responsive. They want to see somebody of character, somebody who can show that they are doing something. We are on this street, Blue Marlin Boulevard, because people willed it to happen; that you have that kind of aggressive leadership to demand that we have change.”

“You are going up against somebody who is considered a heavy financier, if I can call him that, of the party. There were rumors that you had been out in Diaspora getting funding for your last campaign. How do you intend to finance your campaign?”
Darrell Bradley
“Well I’ve always maintained this; it is not about money. I was in city hall and you know Marisol because you’ve asked me a lot of questions on our budget and our audit, the financial position that the city was in and to take a city that is heavily indebted and to do the kind of works that we have done over the last three years that takes leadership. It takes courage, it takes aggression and I think that that is the same spirit that we are going to bring to the campaign. A voter votes because they have a relationship with a candidate they believe in the candidate and they believe that that person is a person of character and who can make a difference. And so this election will be won not by cash, but it will be won by our engagement with each voter on the ground, talking to them and asking them for their support. And when the last vote is counted, I will stand right on this same spot with you interviewing me Marisol and I will make a prediction that we will be victorious and I will tell you clearly that we will not spend ten percent of the money that he will spend.”
