City murder victim shot 9 times
Belize City police still do not have a motive for the city’s latest murder but sources tell News Five that it appears to have been a combination of drugs and robbery that caused the shooting death of twenty six year old Trevor Smith. It is reported that around ten on Wednesday night Smith went to a house on Faber’s Road to allegedly buy drugs. It is reported he was seen outside sitting in his car for some time before he decided to go into the yard. But no sooner had he entered the compound than two young men armed with nine millimetre pistols jumped over the back fence and opened fire. Neighbours recall hearing more then a dozen shots and it is believed that nine of those bullets made their mark, with Smith suffering multiple gunshot wounds all over his body. One witness recalled hearing Smith repeatedly cry out in pain as he was being shot. The gunmen reportedly took money from Smith as he lay mortally wounded on the ground. It is not certain just how much cash was stolen, but sources tell News Five that Smith had just sold a car and is believed to have had a large sum of money on him. Police say they are seeking two suspects.
