CAT scan reveals serious injuries to hit and run victim

Story PictureA CAT scan performed on six-year-old Skylar Sanchez shows that the little girl displays only partial brain activity. Mother Floreth Requeña says she was hoping that the examination would have shown some signs of improvement, but it has only confirmed her worst fears that her daughter, who is suffering from paralysis on the right side of the body, will never be able to function as a normal human being. Requeña says although she is not giving up hope, the latest news has been difficult to bear.

Floreth Requeña, Mother
?I try to be strong and not think negative and noh think the worse. I always believe that I see she dah a person weh try fight herself fi wake up, try fight herself to come outta the coma. The way how I see it, the doctor tell me that the side fi move her right side damaged, the brain can?t function no more, can?t move no more. It hard fi I believe that, it hard. It painful fi watch her in this situation, it really painfully.?

?Because one, I mi feel that after she come off the life support, right now they tell me the swelling in her head di go down and now fi hear that half of her brain can?t function…I noh know, I can?t bear her like this, I di try cope and thing.?

Requeña has received some generous assistance from the public and would like to thank all those persons who have helped. However, the family continues to appeal for whatever donations can be given towards Skylar’s medical expenses. If you would like to help Skylar Sanchez, you can contact her mother at telephone numbers 602-1342 or 205-6049. Donations can also be deposited into Atlantic Bank account number 210727748. The vehicle that knocked down Skylar has been described as a green double cab pickup truck. The vehicle’s right side view mirror was reportedly broken off as a result of the impact. The hit and run driver has yet to come forward and claim any responsibility.
