Magistrate sends message to those who disrespect women

He called a gal sexy and when she failed to appreciate his advances, he punched her in the face. Now Luis Zetina will have two years in prison to think about disrespecting and assaulting women. The twenty-nine year old resident of Reggae Street in Belize City was this morning convicted of wounding and sentenced in the court of Magistrate Earl Jones. On April first of this year, fifteen year old Adriana Lodge and three female friends were walking down Kraal Road when they were approached by Zetina, who was in the company of his two infant sons. According to court testimony, Zetina said, “watch dem sexy gal” and then attempted to kiss Lodge. When Lodge pushed him away, Zetina hit her in the face and a fight ensued. That battle ended only when a police patrol arrived on the scene and took Zetina to the station. In passing the two year sentence Magistrate Jones remarked that “this type of behaviour will not be tolerated; people should be able to walk the street in peace.”
