Guatemalan woman dead in Cayo stabbing

An alleged drunken brawl has left a twenty-three year old woman dead and another woman behind bars. San Ignacio police report that the killing took place around eleven-thirty on Sunday night at a bar on Domingo Cruz Street. It is there Jessica Saldero, a Guatemalan resident of San Ignacio, reportedly got into an altercation with another Guatemalan woman. During the fight, Saldero was stabbed in the centre of her chest and died sometime later at the hospital. According to reports, the alleged assailant, who is now in police custody pending charges, pulled out a knife and inflicted the fatal injury. Police believe the fight was the result of a previous misunderstanding between the women.
