Chain-snatching suspect arrested and charged

A Belize City resident who police believe is the man who beat and robbed a woman on Monday has been arrested and charged. Twenty-year-old Leon Walford of Amara Avenue has been charged with the crimes of robbery and harm in connection with the incident, which occurred on Basra Street. Lucelia Marin told police that she was standing in front of a shop when a young man rode by her on a bicycle but quickly returned to grab a gold chain off her neck. When she fought back and ran away, the guy punched her several times in the face before escaping with the chain. Walford was arrested following police investigations.
