Ramon ‘Monchie’ Cervantes Shares Perspective on the Case
The DPM has steadfastly denied the charges, but his attorney, Senior Counsel Rodwell Williams, today applied to amend the statement of claim form, with a decision by the Chief Justice due by next Thursday, May seventh. According to Ramon Cervantes Junior, the effect of the amendment is to allow Vega not to have to come personally to give testimony in court, but to rely on another witness to lay the groundwork for the charge. Cervantes Junior explains what he thinks of the sudden move by Vega.
Ramon Cervantes Jr., Accused of Libel of Gaspar Vega
“My impression from this proposed amendment Daniel is that the claimant, Mister Vega, is trying to find a way to excuse himself from presenting himself at trial for this case and instead let someone else in this case, I believe one of the witnesses, to do that work for him.”

“Is there any ideas which comes to mind as to why he would want to exclude himself?”
Ramon Cervantes Jr.
“I don’t know. I think you’d have to ask him that.”
No trial date has been set as yet for the hearing of the claim. Cervantes Junior has repeatedly stated he will not retract the allegations. Three persons have been charged with Ramon Cervantes Senior’s kidnapping and murder.
