Their big Surprize draw was delayed due to inclement weather, but that did not stop the folks at Courts handing out some “good ting.” Jacqueline Woods has more.

Today five charitable organisations received some much needed supplies from Courts Belize Limited. The donation is part of the furniture and electrical store?s tenth birthday celebration.
Parveen Hamilton, Marketing Coord., Courts-Bz. Ltd.
?We tried to find the organisations in each community that we felt was most needy and we gave them products that we thought they needed most of all–or they responded by saying what they needed most of all, so that?s what we did today.?
The gifts valued at three thousand dollars include kitchen appliances, a refrigerator, a lawn mower, television sets and other accessories.
Belis Carballo, Helpage, Orange Walk
?We have an old lawnmower and we were just thinking about buying another one, trying to raise funds to buy another one. And so we were pleasantly surprised when we were called by Courts and they said what would you like to have for Helpage and we right away said we need a lawnmower. So we?re very happy that they are donating this lawnmower to us.?
Luis Pulido, Octavia Waight Centre, San Ignacio
?This is the only way that we know that our place can grow and take true care for the elder, by having businesses like Courts and other businesses.?
Jacqueline Woods
?How many senior citizens do you have staying at the Octavia Waight Centre??
Luis Pulido
?At the moment it?s twenty-four. That?s the capacity for the building, and each range from sixty-five to a hundred years.?
Elise McKay, Excelsior High School, Belize City
?Right now we are reintroducing our home economics department in the school and the kitchen is really in need of certain things and this will come in very, very handy for us.?
Beverley Swasey, Cancer Society, Belmopan
?We?ve had a VCR for quite sometime now and whenever we use it we have to borrow from somebody else a TV to use the VCR, so this television will just finish off the set so that we can show educational programmes to our members, as well as for people who we give talks to to.?
Glenda Francis, Helpage, Corozal
?At Helpage, Corozal we have every Tuesdays and Thursdays we have sessions with the older persons and we would give a little snack and sometimes we would have to blend something and we don?t have or we would use it when we celebrate their birthdays for them to feel that somebody remembers them, and we also use it for fundraising. So that?s they we needed these appliances.?
Various anniversary promotions continue for the remainder of the week, so Courts customers are invited to stop in and see what awaits them. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.
The week of activities continues with a Customer Appreciation Day and evenings of entertainment.
