Forty-three year old Cleophus Lambey had just left the Lion King Club on King Street and was making his way home sometime after midnight on Friday night when it is reported he was approached by two men on Euphrates Avenue near the intersection with King Street. Police say the men held up Lambey and fired a single shot to his chest. Lambey fell to the ground and that is where his wife Shirley Lambey found her husband…but it was too late.

?What woke me up is when I heard my daughter said they just kill ?Kerob.? So I scramble in the dark because I had turned off my light and I scramble out of the dark to try and open my door and I ran outside. I found him, I saw him lying face down, so I holler, I said, ?Babe, babe get up you know.? I try to pick him up, but he just let right go. But somewhere deep down in my heart I thought that he had a little life somewhere you know, then a crowd was out there.?
Lambey says she does not know why anyone would want to kill her husband. However, unconfirmed reports are that Lambey, who worked at the Vernon Street fish market, had a larger then usual amount of money on him and may have been followed as he left the club. It is believed Lambey died on his way to the hospital.

?In his chest, exactly in his chest, and he had internal bleeding because a lot of blood was not out there. He was not bleeding, just a little bit of blood on his chest.?
Today as the Lambey family try to cope with the loss of their loved one the police have yet to catch the killers. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.
Belize City police say they are looking for two suspects in connection with the murder.
