Three Men Arraigned for Taxi-man’s Murder
Today, police formally arraigned three men in San Pedro Magistrate’s Court. Twenty-three year old Luis Campos, nineteen year old Mark Arzu and eighteen year old Santos Garcia were led from the cell-block this afternoon as family members crowded the waiting area outside the courtroom. The trio was read charges of Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the case of San Pedro Taxi-man Jose Rigoberto Beltran on April twenty-eighth and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until June thirtieth. Police believe that these three men, along with two others they are seeking, intended to use Beltran’s vehicle in the commission of a robbery on the island. While they are still withholding critical details, it is believed that the men who were in the van with Beltran when he was shot to the head escaped in a boat which was waiting for them near where the vehicle, with his body inside, was left.
