Second Suspect Detained for Agric Murder
A second suspect has been detained by police in connection with the murder at the National Agricultural and Trade Show Grounds. Shariff Anderson Andrewin of Cotton Tree was taken into custody at the Belmopan Police Station today. His arrest comes on the heels of the detention of Kimal Dawson hours after a Hattieville resident was stabbed to death at the show grounds on Saturday. Twenty-four year old Dernell Brown, who had been living in Teakettle for the past two months, was socializing with a group of friends at the grounds around ten-thirty on Saturday night when he was embroiled in a fight with three men, one of which took a knife and stabbed him to the right side of the head. He was rushed the Western Regional Hospital and then to the K.H.M.H. with the knife still lodged in his head. Brown perished after nine on Monday morning. His attackers fled the scene following the incident, but quick response led to the detention of Dawson and now Andrewin. Belmopan Police are still seeking Roaring Creek resident, Dean Galvez, who is also known as “Paradise” as the third suspect in the murder.
