David Akierman, Outgoing Exec. Chair of Corozal Commercial Free Zone
There is word of a major shake up at the Corozal Commercial Free Zone. U.D.P. stalwart, David Akierman, is being removed as Executive Chairman of the zone; a job he assumed soon after the U.D.P. came to office their first term and lasted seven years. The former Comptroller of Customs, Gregory Gibson has been identified to assume the post in the next two months. Speculation is rampant about Ackerman’s removal and why his contract would not be renewed and while we can’t confirm the motive, it is believed that internal wrangling between the powerful Ministers in the north ended in Ackerman’s demise. There is information that he met today with the prime minister to discuss the situation, but still his last day on the job will be at the end of June. The C.E.O. of the free zone is Raul Rosado, a relative of the DPM; he remains untouched.
