Ex-cop and Girlfriend Charged with Drug Trafficking
An ex-police officer and his girlfriend were dragged to court today to answer to a single charge of drug trafficking after the GSU conducted a search at their home. In a Range Rover parked in front of their house, police found several bags of weed containing seven hundred and twelve grams. This morning, the cop, Winston Llewelyn Diego, and his girlfriend, Rosa Benavides, of Ladyville, appeared in the Belize City magistrate’s Court of Ladonna John to answer to the charge of Drug Trafficking with intent to Supply to another person. They pleaded not guilty. There was no objection to bail and as a result, Magistrate Ladonna John granted them both bail in the sum of five thousand dollars. Both Diego and Benavides are due back in court on July fourteen, 2015. A group of GSU officers, including Elston Broaster, along with other officers visited Diego’s home and found nothing incriminating inside. And while the couple denied having keys for the parked vehicle, the GSU found the keys inside their house and inside the vehicle they found the weed.
