Marcel Cardona’s Attorney Says his Client Not Sanctioned by the GLC

Attorney Godfrey Smith on behalf of another attorney, Marcel Cardona, has today issued statement on Cardona’s behalf. It is in respect of a recent media report that the General Legal Council of the Bar Association had taken a decision to suspend him from practicing law. The GLC did discuss complaints made by one of Cardona’s clients alleging that he did not want to return a substantial amount of money he had taken from them. Notwithstanding, Smith’s statement says that Cardona continues to practice law at his firm located in Orange Walk Town and does so with “all the privileges, rights and obligations that go with being an attorney in Belize, including full rights of audience in the court of Belize.”
