American Writer Overstays Welcome in Belize
An American writer who came to Belize legally in December 2013 on a one month permit has been detained for over staying his welcome. Allan David Head was in court today to answer to a single charge of Failure to Comply with the Conditions of a Visitor’s Permit. He pleaded guilty to the immigration offense and agreed with the facts as presented. Magistrate Ladonna John imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of one thousand dollars upon him and ordered him to pay the fine immediately or spend six months imprisonment. He will remain in custody until the Immigration Department can make arrangements to send him back to his country. Immigration department found Head living at the Baymen Guest House in the city. In an interview, Head told the department that he is writing a book about himself while he has been living in Belize. But until late this evening, he remained in the custody of the Immigration Department.
