Said Musa Agrees that PM Barrow Should Just Shut Up
In the recording, former U.D.P. Minister Melvin Hulse speaks repeatedly about the arrogance which he claims has now become the modus operandi of his PM, Dean Barrow. He goes so far as to say that Barrow should just shut up, and cautions that that sort of pompous grandstanding can lead to a fall. To prove his point, Hulse made reference to the P.U.P. under Said Musa and Ralph Fonseca, saying that they had the millions and the arrogance, and still fell hard. Today we spoke to former PM Said Musa who had heard that part of the recording, and agreed.
Said Musa, former Prime Minister
“I and the P.U.P. have certainly learnt that lesson. From 2003 to 2008, yes money was flowing and the economy was booming and yes we overspent and yeah, we have learnt that lesson. Clearly Mister Barrow has not learnt that lesson and he is just going crazy now because he is flushed with money. And he is abusing it and corrupting it; trying to corrupt the people, trying to bribe the people because he has all this money and believes that that will win the election. But mark my words that thing will have a serious backlash just as it did in 2008 against the P.U.P. It will against the U.D.P. in 2015 or 2016 whenever they call the elections.”

“You are a veteran of many campaigns. Do you see any backlash coming out of the recording of Melvin Hulse leading up to bye-elections?”
Said Musa
“Oh yes, first of all, I think Barrow wah have to get rid of Melvin Hulse. He can’t take this. Dean Barrow will not take it because he takes these things personal. Remember the tape that Mark King reveal to him and remember how he was dead set against Castro until he realize the game was up…ih can’t stop Castro. Similarly ih wah try get rid of Melvin Hulse because this is from the horse’s mouth. From the horse’s mouth di tell yo this man is crazy with power and that he will use the Petrocaribe money to win the bye-election, just like he did in Cayo North. Remember what he said about who all they paid; how much Barrow pay Mahmud, how much Barrow promise to pay Mister Ramos. I mean this is serious stuff you know…major indictment against the U.D.P. and Dean Barrow as prime minister.”
In an extended interview to Love FM today, Hulse apologizes to the Prime Minister and party leader saying that he meant no harm to him or the party. Hulse also said that it was a private conversation with people he trusted. It is not known at this time what the legal consequences will be now that Hulse has offered an unequivocal apology.
