Technical holds all-class reunion
They have scattered far and wide; some in the U.S., some in Europe, and others in all parts of Belize. But this week a very special group of Belizeans gathered together one more time to reminisce and catch up on each other’s lives. Jacqueline Woods reports.

These men and women may not look the same as the last time they saw each other, but they all share one thing: they graduated from Belize Technical College and Technical High school. Over one hundred people are attending the first B.T.C. Homecoming Reunion.
Shereda Jones, Reunion Committee/Class of 1970
?There are activities coming out of our ears. Jocelyn has a whole five days of activities planned for this group that nobody can say they?re bored if they?re here to be a part of the reunion. You can go to the cayes, we can go to Pueblo Escondido, we can go to the zoo and take the tubing. There?s just a whole variety of activities for those of us who are like tourists in our country, to act like the tourists that come off the ship. We will be enjoying it.?
The reunion is scheduled to run for six days and the attendees are not wasting one minute of their time together having fun. This morning the University College of Belize hosted a ?Breakfast under the Eaves.? The alumni enjoyed a meal of fry jacks, eggs and beans at this memorable occasion.
Glen O. Myers, Class of 1969
?A young man coming from Gales Point, it was almost like taboo. Everything I did here I had to prove myself. And luckily?well not luckily, through hard work and dedication, I happen to be one of the top people in my class. And I carried that all through the rest of my life to the little bit of success that I have achieved so far.?
Rev. Andra Hoxie, Class of 1974
?It was very good to see people who I hadn?t seen in a long time and we all look just a wee bit different from the last time we saw each other. So that was really, really great.?
Rose Bernard Carruth, Class of 1970
?It feels so good. I was all excited to be back in Belize. I love Belize. I love my old high school; I talk about it all the time. It gave me the foundation of my job.?
This dynamic group of past students credit B.T.C. for all the accomplishments they have made and hope that at least every five years there will be a reunion.
Shereda Jones
?It is wonderful to be back home. I have been looking forward to this for a long time, so I am excited to be here; sleepy, but excited.?
Following this morning?s activity the group travelled to Belmopan where they spent most of the day at U.B. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.
The reunion week ends on May twenty-third.
