Domestic Dispute Lands Taxi Man Behind Bars
A domestic dispute has landed forty-six year old taxi man, Mark Anthony Lord Senior at the Belize Central Prison. He is facing two criminal offenses, allegedly committing against his common-law wife, Diane Waight. This morning, Lord Senior appeared before Magistrate, Hettie Mae Stewart and was arraigned for Grievous Harm to Waight as well as for Damage to Property in respect of her cell phone. The prosecutor, Corporal Kennard Clark objected to bail being granted to the taxi man due to the severity of the offense as well the likelihood that Lord Senior may interfere with his common law wife with whom he shares a house. But he undertook to move out of the house and promised not to interfere with Waight. Lord Senior also told the court that he has a loan with DFC which must be paid and that he has to provide for his family. But Magistrate Stewart was of the view that the accused may interfere with the victim and with that, she upheld the objection to bail and remanded him into custody until July twenty-eighth, 2015. But the taxi man can apply for bail at the Supreme Court. An emotional Lord said he had no relatives living in Belize who can assist him in seeking bail at the higher court.
