Apprentice Remanded For Alleged Robbery
Tonight, a member of the Apprenticeship Program who is scheduled to graduate on July twenty-second has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison. Allan Allen Phillips was arraigned on Monday in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith. He is suspected of robbing businessman Fokrul Alam, owner of Take and Pay Grocery Store, of four hundred dollars in cash at gunpoint. He was additionally charged with harm upon Alam and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm upon Lincoln Roy Glen. In court, Phillips pleaded not guilty to all charges. There are reports that Phillips was picked up following a routine visit to the store last Friday, after he cashed a cheque and was heading to ITVET to attend his Apprenticeship Program. Phillips was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October thirteenth, 2015. As to his upcoming graduation, the only way he will attend is if he is granted Supreme Court bail by July seventeenth.
