Firm helps jobseekers to dress for success

As thousands of students from all over the country get ready to graduate and inundate the job market, one local personnel firm is launching a community service project to help the unemployed find work. According to officials of Fusion HR in Belize City, the project called Career Quest will feature several phases. The first segment is called Dress for Success. Sales and Marketing associate Suzi Moguel says the initiative is designed to help young people get the clothes, make-up and hairstyle to impress employers. This weekend, the public is being asked to donate any surplus items from their closet.

?Basically work attire, male or female. In the male attire, neckties, dark pants, white shirts, coloured shirts, but plain colours we are hoping for. For females, anything that looks suit-like. Many people have uniforms that they?ve changed, no longer using, and rather than throwing it away, we can make use of it. We are going to basically coach them how to dress the proper way before going into interviews.?

?The truth of it is people who graduate from school might have good backgrounds, might be experienced people, educated people, but just because they don?t have the look sometimes they fail in an interview. So basically, that?s our aim, we are job matching people. What we do is collect resumes. We find jobs for people overall. And it?s a free service for jobseekers, that?s something we do. We ask people to bring in their resumes and it?s free of cost.?

The second section of Fusion HR’s project will include compiling a professional resume and dealing with the interview process. Dress for Success will officially launch on Saturday at ten at Fusion HR’s office on North Front Street, adjacent to the Thurton Library. Staff members will be on standby all day to accept clothes donations.
