Faber appears in court
Meanwhile, Collet Area Representative Patrick Faber was today formally arraigned in Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on two counts of aggravated assault. The charges arose out of an incident in the nation’s capital on Thursday afternoon when Faber scuffled with police as he tried to gain entrance to a forum hosted by students of the University of Belize. That forum was advertised as being open to the public, but at some point the U.B. administration opted to restrict it to students. Faber protested vigorously to officers who denied him access to the event and at one point broke free from where he was being held and sprinted across the front lawn of the campus before being subdued by riot police. Faber pleaded not guilty to the charges and was offered and met bail of two thousand dollars. He is scheduled to reappear in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on July twenty-fifth.
