P.U.P. Standard Bearers Meet Following No-Show at Independence Hall
In political news, at least twelve standard bearers and some executive members of the People’s United Party boycotted on Tuesday a meeting at Independence Hall. We are told the absence included six standard bearers from the north, three from the Belize district and the others from the Cayo district. News Five has today been reliably informed that several meetings took place throughout the day following the no-show on Tuesday. Some standard bearers told News Five that they are concerned about the direction of the party and a change has to come to ignite the excitement of the electors and party supporters. That is in the wake of three consecutive losses this year alone by the Opposition Party under the leadership of Francis Fonseca. And now with the resignation of the national campaign manager, Godfrey Smith, the party has been unable to find a replacement.
