Timothy Morey Charged for Lying to Police About His Identity
An Orange Walk man isn’t going to be clowning around with the Police again after a mischievous act almost landed him in jail. On Tuesday, Timothy Aaron Morey was on Oleander Street in Belize City when he was approached and searched. Nothing was found on him, but when he was asked for his name he said he was Steven Hyde from Orange Walk Town. It just so happened that Steven Hyde is wanted in Orange Walk for damage to property, but when Morey was taken to the Police Station authorities were able to verify that he is indeed Morey and not Steven Hyde. That’s when he was charged for a mischievous act. Morey appeared before Magistrate Ladonna John this morning, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of five hundred dollars plus one surety. He almost still went to jail, though, because he owed the Court an old fine of two hundred dollars from 2013. He was ordered to pay up before he could post bail, and did so at around noon today. Morey is due back in Court on September twenty-fourth, 2015.
