Electricity blackout was sabotage
The plague of sabotage that brought the nation’s telecommunications system to its knees has spread to the supply of electricity. According to a release from B.E.L., around six-thirty Tuesday evening vandals cut down six poles supporting the company’s one hundred and fifteen kilovolt line from Mexico. The result was a series of blackouts lasting over an hour. Power to most of the country was restored when B.E.L. was able to mobilize its gas turbine, diesels, and Mollejon hydro facility. Although the northern districts are currently receiving power from Mexico, the line to the south has still not been repaired and this means that for the next day or so the rest of the country will be subjected to rolling blackouts. Meanwhile, police are searching for the saboteurs and, like the last time the line was disrupted, B.D.F. soldiers are patrolling the route of the high voltage system.
