COPA Airlines Comes to Belize
Panama’s flagship carrier, Compania Panamena de Aviacion, simply known as Copa Airlines, announced earlier today that as of December eight it will be offering two weekly flights to Belize City. The new addition will allow Copa Airlines to expand its route to seventy-five cities and thirty-one countries across the hemisphere. The scheduled flights will depart Belize City on Tuesdays and Fridays and will arrive at the Hub of the Americas at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City. The nonstop airlift to and from Belize will accommodate up to ninety-four passengers who will not need to be processed by immigration and customs authorities.
Elisa Brenes, Regional Sales Manager, Central America Copa Airlines
“It was the last destination in Central America that we did not cover and now we’re covering every single city in Central America and we really wanted to take advantage of Belize for the beautiful opportunities that you have, tourism in this beautiful and fascinating country that you have and connect it to the Hub of the Americas, connect it to South America, to Central America and the Caribbean and mainly to transport many passengers to Belize and then Belize’s connectivity to the hub and the rest of the Americas. For us we’re very excited because we really wanted to start flying to Belize years ago but now that we have made a decision we’re going to start on December eight twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. Our average connection is one hour so it’s very easy to go through Panama. You don’t have to do immigration; you don’t have to check your baggage. If you want, for example, you can have breakfast in Belize and have lunch in Panama and then have dinner in Buenos Aires if you want to because our flights are very easy in Panama and the Hub of the Americas is very easy to manage passengers. So you don’t need any visas, you fly through Panama the easiest way possible.”
