Belizean Authorities Silent Says BTVS De la Fuente
De la Fuente says the silence from Belize’s authorities is frustrating because they were given a compilation of footage from the Livingston incident which clearly shows the thirty-seven Belizeans were taken against their will.
Phillip de la Fuente, Northern Territorial Volunteers
“You know in this day and age everybody has their tablet and phone and everybody was taking pictures so we asked everybody to give all their pictures to one person and we put everything on a CD and we hand-delivered it to both the offices of the National Security and Foreign Affairs, and we asked them to look into it because the CD show the Guatemalan vessel coming and tying up to our boat which is docked on the Belize side of the river. And that’s a military ship coming to dock on our land. And the other one shows the military ship again coming to tie up to our boat and then hauling us out to sea. So we asked them to look into it and see what is wrong. And we have not been given an answer.”

“How long ago was that?”
Phillip de la Fuente
“That’s since the incident. The Northern Territorial Volunteers – our sole goal, our only aim, is to ask the Belizean government to please clear the border and start protecting our country – protecting our resources, protecting our people. Whatever government is in…that is what we want them to do. I have no idea why they don’t want to do it. But again…if any government would clear the border and start protecting Belize then the Northern Territorial Volunteers would have nothing to do.”
As we told you, the group is headed to Sarstoon Island in mid-August, and the plan is to get support from patriotic Belizeans countrywide.
