Cops find ammo stash in Trial Farm
The death of Carlos Puerto was not the only occurrence that had police working overtime in Trial Farm. Acting on a phone tip, cops searched an area near Blackwater Creek and unearthed a sack containing seven hundred and thirty-six rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition. Also in the bag were two magazines and fourteen expanded shells. The 5.56 calibre is made primarily for the M-16 assault rifle used by the Belize Defence Force and other armies around the world. No one has been tied to the ammo, although police have a number of theories involving various criminal gangs that have operated in the area.
