Caracol featured on new B.T.L. directory
As Belize’s most essential publication, the B.T.L. directory, tends to start the year off in sterling condition then end up dog-eared, written in, and even ripped up–but that’s okay, the folks at B.T.L. are ready once more to give you a new one. News Five spoke with Public Relations Officer Linette Canto about the latest edition… and as she will show you, it’s looking pretty sharp, for now.
Linette Canto, P.R. Officer, B.T.L.
?We know that Belizeans on a whole look forward to getting the new book, we know that every year it?s very thrilling when they get to see the cover, they get to see what the cover story is, to flip through and see the new features. And with that in mind, we put a lot of effort into making this as attractive and as user friendly as possible. This year we chose Caracol, the ancient Mayan temple as our cover. And the reason that we did this is because much excavation work has been going on in Caracol recently, unveiling an important part of our history. We believe that Caracol offers valuable insight into what Belize was like, about the rich and exciting history that our country has, and with that in mind, we decided to feature Caracol this year.?
?This year we made some major improvements to the directory, which we feel will be very pleasing to our customers. We placed a table of contents at the beginning of the directory, which means that anybody who opens the book will be able to open the book and find exactly the information that they want. We moved the green pages to the front to give it a more permanent position. One of the things that we have also done is to include sixteen pages of tourism information. As you know, the tourism industry has been on a significant rise over the past two years, and with this in mind, we decided to add this to the directory so that any visitor coming into our country will be able open the book and read about what Belize has to offer and to see how rich and diverse our country is. We have divided the white and yellow pages with an index, which makes it much easier to decipher where the white pages and the yellow pages begin. We?ve just pretty much made it as user friendly as possible.?
