Accused Murderer of Well-Known Conch Shell Bay Fisherman Rearrested
Forty-two-year-old James Rhaburn, accused of killing Michael Richard Ysaguirre by beating him to death in June 2014, remains in police custody tonight pending a charge of murder. Ysaguirre is the deceased sibling of former Belize City Mayor Zenaida Moya. The prime suspect, a resident of Conch Shell Bay, has been in pretrial detention for the last thirteen months and on Monday, before Magistrate Ladonna John, the indictment against Rhaburn was struck out. That’s because Prosecutor Hector Rodriguez informed the court that he had no case file on the matter. But, before Rhaburn was able to enjoy his newfound freedom, he was summarily arrested and detained by police officers who escorted him to the Queen Street Police Station where the charge for murder will be reapplied. Rhaburn allegedly took Ysaguirre’s life during an incident near the fish market in which the well-known fisherman was attacked and repeatedly assaulted with an unknown instrument.
