Taxi Driver Michael Andrews Indicted on Rape Charge
A forty-five-year-old Belize City taxi man stands accused of raping a forty-one-year-old woman from the Belama area. Today, Michael Andrews Senior appeared unrepresented before Acting Chief Magistrate, Patricia Arana, where he was read a single charge of rape. The court prosecutor, Inspector Hector Rodriguez, objected to bail on the severity of the charge and that police believes that he will try to interfere with the victim, who he knows very well. Despite Andrews Senior telling the judge that he is not a trouble maker, the Acting Chief Magistrate upheld the prosecutor’s objection to bail and remanded him to prison until September thirtieth, 2015. It is alleged that around four-thirty on Saturday morning, Andrews Senior had sexual intercourse with the woman against her will inside her home in the Belama Phase Two area.
