B.T.L. announces lower DigiCell rates

Story PictureCoincidence? Or competition? Whatever the case, Belize Telecommunications Limited, today announced new telephone rates for their DigiCell customers. No, you won’t have to pay more. In fact, Senior Marketing Representative Lisa Stanford says that beginning on Friday, thousands of B.T.L.’s DigiCell customers will be able to talk more and without feeling any bad rhythms in their pockets.

Lisa Stanford, Senior Marketing Representative
?We?re going to be increasing the minutes on the DigiCell premiere customers plan, from the standard to the platinum. All the planned minutes are going to increase. And for our prepaid customers, we?re going to increase the percentage on the cards. So they will be able to make more calls on these cards that we will have on April first.?

Patrick Jones
?In basic terms, how much will a call cost as of April first for DigiCell customers??

Lisa Stanford
?Well, the lowest rate for the cards would be like forty-six cents and the highest will be like sixty-five cents with these cards that we are promoting for April first.?

?We?re focussing not on the rates, but also on the fact that B.T.L. offers much more than that, as in quality assurance, the flexibility of the DigiCell with just taking out the SIM, buying another one and using the same phone, the coverage area, we?ve continued to expand on it. And also we want to give something back to the customer?s. So that?s basically why we?re dong this promotion.?

Stanford says while it is just a promotion based on feedback from their customers, B.T.L. is looking at the possibility of making the decrease in DigiCell rates permanent. Newcomer Speednet’s announced rates were slightly cheaper than the old DigiCell prices but they are also expected to offer some special low cost promotions. In related news, Stanford says the new telephone directory is coming along and should be available within the next thirty days. She says that the delay is because new features are being added.
